No quality Italian meal is complete without a truly delicious dessert. If you are like me, capping off a meal with a sweet treat for your taste buds is an absolute must. Typically, Italians only reserve the most succulent desserts for special occasions throughout the year. But luckily, you can enjoy a traditional Italian dessert any time you see fit. Ironside Pizza offers a great menu full of Italian desserts in Miami. Here are some of their popular Italian desserts on their menu.

Tiramisu

Perhaps the most popular Italian dessert, Tiramisu translates to “a little pick-me-up” and it does way more than that for the people that enjoy it. This chilled dessert is a layered masterpiece of espresso-dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone cream cheese that has been lightened up with whipped egg yolks and sweet cream. While there are modern tweaks on this classic, the original is very close to perfection itself.

Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is very simple yet truly melt-in-your-mouth amazing. While the translation doesn’t scream, “eat me,” Panna Cotta is so much more than just ‘cooked cream.’ Originating in the rich dairy Piedmont region of Italy, Panna Cotta is crafted with the highest quality cream and just enough gelatin to hold its shape. Common toppings include fresh fruit compote, caramel or warm chocolate sauce.

Affogato

Al Caffé- a scoop of vanilla gelato that is “drowned” in a shot of hot espresso. This dessert is a wonderful combination of rich, sweet and bitter.

Pizza Nutella

Who doesn’t love Nutella? Just like Panna Cotta, a pastry maker from the Piedmont region developed the deliciously rich paste of hazelnuts, sugar, and cocoa. This dessert tops a freshly baked crust that melts the Nutella and is topped with fruit, often times strawberries. Nutella makes everything better.

Gelato

While it is considered a true Italian dessert, gelato actually came from China during the 14th century but has taken up a stronghold in the Italian cuisine. Gelato uses more milk and less cream, churned slower and stored and served at lower temperatures than the American counterpart of ice cream. This dense, creamy and intensely flavored frozen treat comes in a variety of flavors from rich to fruity. Sorbetto is gelato that is sweetened with fruit purees.

So the next time you are in the mood for some outstanding traditional Italian pizza and dessert, head to Ironside Pizza in Miami. Delicious food and a warm, relaxing atmosphere are exactly what you will find.
